Day 7 – Truth

Day 7 Fast & Pray Truth
John 8:31 (ESV) So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
John 14:6 (ESV) Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”
John 16:12 (ESV) “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. 14 He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. 15 All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.

The simple biblical fact is that truth sets people free. It’s just that getting at the truth has never seemed so hard before.

As you fast and pray today, remember the principles on truth from the Gospel of John. In John 8 we find that remaining in God’s Word will allow us to know truth. In John 14 we find that Jesus calls himself “the way, the truth, and the life.” In John 16, Jesus declares that “the Spirit of truth” “will guide you into all the truth.” This comes from the Father to the Son to the Spirit to you! From John, you cannot help but see that truth, in a biblical sense, is centered in God and His Word.

As you fast today, pray for God to shine more of His truth into your life. Pray that you might be able to navigate your way through the lies of the enemy, and become a beacon of truth to others. Our society needs Godly truth like never before. How can you know it more? How can you show it more? These are the questions to ask God as you pray today. Have the faith to believe that He will answer you. When He does, have the faith to be obedient and follow His lead.

Truth. Think of that time when a friend kept a secret from you and all you wanted to know was the truth. You begged, you tried to ask others to tell you. All you wanted to know was the truth that your friend was hiding. Once you found out it was like a weight was lifted off and you finally felt fulfilled. You finally knew the truth!! Think how much more powerful it is to receive truth from the Lord! This is why His word says in John 8:31 that His truth will set us free! When we know his truth about our life, it sets us free from anger, bitterness, insecurity, addiction, etc. Many times we spend years trying to find the truth to the secrets of our life. Do I matter? Will I struggle with this my whole life? What do I do with my life? Why does this person hate me? Why can’t I stand that person? Why do I feel this way? Why do I feel judged? The truth to all these questions and more are found in His word! Waiting for us to find them and walk in the freedom that comes from knowing his truth! When we spend time with him daily, he will give us answers to questions that we didn’t even know we had! As you begin to finish up this week of prayer and fasting, ask the Lord what areas you need his truth to bring light. Then watch as you are able to walk in the freedom that it brings!

Hey Kids! Jesus says in John 14:6: “I am the way the truth and the life…” As a child, How do you know what truth is? By reading the Bible, talking to God, and trusting in the Holy Spirit, the truth will be very clear no matter how old or young you may be. Truth is not about how you feel or what you think in your brain, because kids + adults can all have different opinions and thoughts. Truth is what God’s word says and if you want to find truth that is exactly where you will need to go! God will show you very clearly in his word on what to follow or what to stay away from. When you have a decision to make (it can be anything), ask God to help you make the right one- He will help you choose the right path. Always remember, because he is truth, we should speak the truth. Make sure the words you speak to yourself and to others are always pleasing to the Lord. All the words that come out of your mouth should be full of goodness and hope! Because that is who God is!
