Founded in the basement of Kirk and Lyn Goodwin’s home in 2004, the S.U.P.E.R. Learning Center is a school that has always offered personal, unique, and diverse methods for its students. S.U.P.E.R. Learning Center (affectionately known as S.U.P.E.R. is unlike most schools, in that it excels in providing a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students, primarily focusing on the needs of students with autism.

Today, the school is the area’s leading autism early childhood and high school education institution. At S.U.P.E.R., students of all abilities have the opportunity to learn and develop social skills, while being treated with respect and reminded of their creation for a specific and special purpose. In addition to the students receiving an effective education, regardless of where they are on the range of different abilities, the students also have the opportunity to attend chapel every Friday and learn more about God and His plans for their lives.

Sarah Wagner, a member of Springfield Assembly who works at S.U.P.E.R. Learning Center as an aid, explains that she loves the school because, “It is a faith-based school that specializes in autism and special needs, while also integrating students without special needs.” Three of Sarah’s children attend S.U.P.E.R., and she has found that the school has been extremely helpful in meeting their needs and in providing them with a personal, fun, and faith-based education.

S.U.P.E.R. Learning Center is a community-minded school that works to meet the needs of people in the community through projects, which involves the help and participation of the whole school. Through such community projects, Springfield Assembly has had the opportunity to partner with S.U.P.E.R. Both Springfield Assembly and the S.U.P.E.R. Learning Center have had the opportunity to help with a community Backpack Giveaway event, an event orchestrated through Springfield Cares.

Perhaps one of the largest ways that Springfield Assembly has been able to help and be involved in the success of S.U.P.E.R. is by offering its facility for the school’s yearly graduation in May. Through such events, both Springfield Assembly and the S.U.P.E.R. Learning Center have had the opportunity to partner together and positively impact the community as a whole!
