Day 2 – The Value of Every Human Being

Day 2 Fast & Pray Value of Every Human
Genesis 1:26 (ESV) Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
27 So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.
Psalm 139:13 (ESV) For you formed my inward parts;
    you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.[a]
Wonderful are your works;
    my soul knows it very well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you,
when I was being made in secret,
    intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
in your book were written, every one of them,
    the days that were formed for me,
    when as yet there was none of them.
Romans 5:8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

God is the author of life. He created all the life that you see and every human, from the time of Adam and Eve until now, holds a special place in His heart. No other created being can experience salvation, not even the angels. Think of it, Jesus, being fully God and fully man, gave His life for you. That is absolutely unthinkable and “Amazing Love,” as Charles Wesley, Chris Tomlin, and others have put it, but it is what God extends to you. As you fast today, pray around that truth. Imagine what would happen if people valued people everywhere as God values them.

For a moment, think about the love of God as a boundless treasure given to you by the Lord. He desires for every person to experience that treasure and, as you probably know, you have a part in helping others find that treasure. The fascinating part is that, though others may share in God’s love, your portion never diminishes. That’s the nature of infinity. There is more than enough for all.

It is very important to remember that God’s love was extended to you before you accepted it—while you were still caught in sin. That’s because you have inherent value as a person fashioned in the image of God Himself. And so does everybody else—every other person, of every ethnicity, from every culture, from every background, period. And so we learn from our Heavenly Father to value every human life, recognizing that it just might be that special type of love, the type that is extended even to those who might not be at the center of your thoughts, which can draw those souls to God and make an eternal difference in their lives.

When you live this out, you will even value your enemies! Wow! It is really time to fast and pray!

There is something powerful in knowing that we are made in the image of God. What’s interesting is that if you look around, you easily realize that we do not all look the same at all on this earth. Therefore, this “image” that we are created in must be deeper and more profound than just skin color, ethnicity, or culture. Being created in His image means that we are all created in love, by the God of Love, and we each have value, destiny, and purpose that is given by our Father in heaven. Fasting allows us to see through our fathers eyes. Why would you need to know this? For starters, you want to know your own personal value. If we all take a step back, and really think. Do you like who you are as a person? I don’t mean the little kinks, the weird things, I mean who you are deep down. When you look in the mirror, when you get dressed, when you talk to yourself. Do you like who you are? Can you confidently and honestly say that you were fearfully and wonderfully made? Take time in this fast to let God show you how He sees you. Let this be your view of yourself and then watch as you are then able to view others through Christ’s eyes! It helps us grow so that we can see all people how He sees them! When we are able to do this, any form of division, bias, or mistrust will melt away from our Christian life as we interact with people of all different walks of life, race, religion, etc.

Hey Kids! Psalm 139:14 says: “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” Close your eyes and think of all the people in this world. God created every person and they are all unique. So many people in a variety of colors, sizes, shapes, and personalities. Everyone is so special to God with no two people the same – even twins look a little different with different fingerprints! Here is the cool thing: We are all different, but all the same! What? That’s right! It’s because we are ALL humans, ALL created by God, and ALL loved equally by our Heavenly Father! He doesn’t love any person more or less than the other. So today, look around you and see all the creative and wonderful humans God made and put on our planet. Get ready to love and be kind to every single person that comes your way! Remember – People ROCK!
